Welcome to Centre for Gender, Women and Children in Sustainable Development
We pride ourselves on our core values through gender responsive research, trainings, policy dialogues, mentorship programs, advocacies, women/girls focused intervention programs across sectors, grassroots mobilization, and largely to reduce vulnerabilities among marginalized groups – women, girls, persons with disabilities, the elderly, and children from poor homes.
Vision
To see a Nigerian Society devoid of gender-based discriminations and abuses
Goal
To establish a Centre of Excellence which will engage in gender responsive research and training
From the CEO
CGWCSD is a Centre of Excellence committed to entrenching gender equality, women empowerment and social inclusion principles as core values for transforming the Nigeria Society, and the African Continent, through gender responsive research, trainings, policy dialogues, mentorship programs, advocacies, women/girls focused intervention programs across sectors, grassroots mobilization, and largely to reduce vulnerabilities among marginalized groups – women, girls, the elderly, and persons with disabilities.
We work with Public and Private Sectors Institutions; Development Partners; CSOs; and Local Communities. Our interventionist approaches include: right based and life cycle approaches; gender mainstreaming; gender policy and planning frameworks; gender budgeting; and gender/feminist methodologies to boost research outcomes etc. The Centre is a HUB for Research & Training.
You are welcome to join the stream of CGWCSD Fellows across our Research & Training Hubs. We mount Short Courses/Training Workshops in Women/Gender related topics; work with governments and Development Partners for gender transformative change; support educational institutions to mainstream gender in academic curricula, and network with Local NGOs, Women/Gender Networks, Feminist Groups, Governments and Development Partners. We support the wellbeing of vulnerable groups – widows, orphans, persons with disabilities, the elderly and survivors of Sexual/Gender-Based Violence.

Collaborations and Partnerships with notable institutes and organizations
To work mainly with women and girls; but also with men and boys (where this will help in the attainment of gender equality and gender justice) for sustainable human development; and importantly, serving as a midwife in helping the vulnerable groups, especially women and children overcome deprivations caused by gender induced inequalities and oppressions; and thereby giving ‘voice’ to the voiceless in our society.
