Today marks a significant milestone as Professor Olabisi Idowu Aina celebrates her 70th birthday and officially retires from active service, from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. Over a career spanning more than three decades, Professor Aina has made an indelible mark in academia, teaching and mentoring countless students while holding several key leadership positions.
Throughout her illustrious career, Professor Aina served as the head of the Department of Sociology and Anthropology and the Faculty of Social Sciences. Her leadership extended to the Centre for Gender and Social Policy Studies, where she contributed significantly to advancing gender and social policy research. Notably, she has been the pioneer director of the Centre of Gender Studies at Ekiti State University, Ekiti State, and Redeemer’s University, Ede.
Currently, she doubles as the Executive Director of the Centre for Gender, Women and Children in Sustainable Development in Ile-Ife and the Pro Chancellor of Venite University, Iloro-Ekiti, Ekiti State.
As every salaried worker eventually must, Professor Aina now transitions into retirement, from active service from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. Her legacy of dedication, excellence, and mentorship will undoubtedly continue to inspire future generations.
