It was a moment of joy, reflection, and gratitude as the Centre for Gender, Women and Children in Sustainable Development (CGWCSD) held a send-forth ceremony in honour of one of her staff members, Ms. Peace Ikujenlola, who is transitioning to a new professional and personal journey.

The modest but heartfelt event brought together colleagues, management staff, fellows of the Centre, and well-wishers who gathered to celebrate Ms Ikujenlola’s contributions and commitment during her stay in the center. The occasion provided an opportunity to reflect on her professional journey and acknowledge the positive impact she made on the Centre’s programmes and operations.
Ms Ikujenlola served as Programme Officer I, a role in which she contributed significantly to the planning, coordination, and implementation of gender-responsive initiatives and development programmes. Throughout her time at the Centre, she was recognised for her diligence, and strong commitment to advancing the Centre’s mandate on gender equality, women’s empowerment, and child development.
In her remarks, the Executive Director, Professor Olabisi Aina, encouraged the celebrant and other staff members to uphold the principles and ethics of professional life as they advance in their respective careers. She emphasised the importance of integrity, dedication, and continuous learning in professional practice.
Responding to the occasion, Ms. Ikujenlola expressed deep appreciation to the management of the Centre for the positive impact, mentorship, and diverse skills she acquired during her time at the Centre. She reaffirmed her commitment to continued collaboration and her resolve to identify with and support the Centre’s vision and mandate, following her induction as a Fellow of the Centre.
Goodwill messages were also delivered by Professor Joshua Aransiola, Professor Lanre Ikuteyijo, Dr Olufunmilayo O. Banjo, and Dr Oyeyemi B. Babalola, all of whom commended Ms Ikujenlola for her service and wished her success in her future endeavours.
